Easter Thunderball
Friday:
The off-season came to a very quick ending with us. With parts still finding their way to us weeks before the first meeting we were on a tight schedule, tied in with building a trailer, the car needed it's work to get it ready for Easter. On the friday of the meeting we did a 8.7 @ 110 test pass to check everything over and all was great.
Saturday:
Saturday morning dawned, the pairings were drawn and we were to be paired against Dave Grabham with their Freddys Revenge Topolino. We pulled to the line, did the burnouts:
Dad forgot for this weekend we didn't have Adam with us, so he was wondering why Adam hadn't begun to back me up by the time I had reversed past the tree, but we were lined up, went into stage. I was a bit late to launch but the run was a stormer for me; 7.49 @ 171mph, taking 1/2 a second off my previous P.B and adding another 6 mph to my personal best speed:
After seeing some of the photographs the car pulled a pretty awesome wheelie, here are another photo from another angle (I believe the grandstand):

We were on a huge high from that run, after a lookover the car we were ready for the next days racing; we sat out the Saturday evening session and waited for Sundays efforts.
Sunday:
Once again the pairings were drawn and we were to be paired against Dave Grabham again. We switched lanes for this run, did the burnouts and made the runs. For this run we made it through with a 7.75 @ 169mph:
Monday:
On the run we made against Dave, Dave unfortunately succomb to engine damage and has sidelined him for the next few meetings, we hope you guys get back out with the car as soon as possible. We were then paired against Jim Usher in The Mob. The last time we raced was the Nostalgia Nationals in 2006 and Jim had won that one. After pulling a strong burnout, we pulled to the line:
We ran another high 7, a 7.80 at 170mph was the result of it
After that run the top 4 aggregate E.T runners would pair up and race off for 1st and 2nd honours, and then 3rd and 4th place honours. After the pairings were completed, it would turn out we came 3rd and would race Jim Usher again for 3rd and 4th place. However Jim's car had succomb to engine damage and would have to miss the pairing and first alternate Frank Bennett would come in to replace him.We paired up and made the runs and ran another 7.75 @ 171mph but in the other lane Frank Bennett and the Bennett Racing 'Relentless' Topolino ran their first 6, a 6.90 @ 195mph for the win. Nice one guys you've been after that one a long time! With Easter done, we got the car looked over and made it ready for the Springspeed Festival at Avon Park.
